On June 25th, we joined 350.org activists at Liberal MP Will Greaves office in Victoria, along with 40+ communities are taking action at MPs’ offices across the country to call on Liberal representatives to sign an MOU with the people — a deal to protect our communities, our climate, and our future. The crowd was large and colorful (see photos), and the youth delegation had a 45 minute meeting with MP Greaves, who declined to sign the MOU, and he did agree to sponor two parliamentary petitions.
Now, as the clock is ticking, we just got word that Alberta Premier Danielle Smith will submit her proposal for the West Coast Pipeline this Thursday.
This dangerous project, promised to Smith by PM Carney in the Canada-Alberta MOU, would have a catastrophic impact on our climate while endangering communities and ecosystems across its route. We are calling on the federal government, through our local Conservative MP, to:
– Stop fast-tracking destruction, Protect our communities and the land.
– Stop building climate-burning pipelines, Accelerate the energy transition
– Stop letting Big Oil profit at our expense, Fund our future.
